Recording 2- panto

So some issues tonight.

After realised one of the jack to jack's wasnt working properly the entire time and doing some detective work we swapped it out.

Recorded 16 channels at 44.1 hTz same as previous night.

However, at the end of the performance, mains got switched off before any of the recording equipment.

Alesis didnt like it and chewed up the recording.

Trying to get whatever data from the hard drive we can but might not be enough.

Typical...

Recording 1- Panto

So it was panto week.

Set up wednesday night/thursday afternoon.

Had 1 AKG C1000 on the drums, 1 AKG C1000 on the keys amp and DI from the bass amp.

Linked them through the hall to the Soundcraft desk.

They went from desk into Alesis.

Set up 8 microphone splitters onto Allen and Heath desk (live), 4 for stage mics (static) and 4 radio mics.

One of the radio mics was discontinued throughout the performance.

From the splitter boxes they went through a multicore into soundcraft desk and then into Alesis.

Recorded 16 channels at 41 kHz.

Didnt stop recording through interval.

About 3 hours of recording.

Did You Know

How much money this project is costing me???!!! If I want to rent the Alesis HHD for a day is £80 and for a week its £220!  The MOTU is even more expensive!

On top of that I have to take ridiculous amounts of gear.
I mean I knew this was gonna be tough but realy?!

I give up...

Setting Up

So trying to set up for the first show of the year and I've been struggling for weeks to try to work out a way to record and tonight I might've cracked it. Either the MOTU 24 or the Alesis 24HD. Hoping to go for the Alesis to be honest as it seems like the easier one as on my PC I dont have a spare PCI slot so a new machine would have to be built for me whereas with the Alesis the data can be recorded straight to the hard drive and then transferred via ethernet :D Seems liek the best way really.
